Premier League Transfer Round Up: June 20th-27th.

Take a look at all the confirmed incomings from the last week of transfer action

Fabio Viera - Porto to Arsenal (£34 million)

Arsenal have confirmed their third signing of the summer Fabio Viera from Porto. Arsenal have paid 30 million pounds upfront plus 4 million in future add-ons for the 22-year-old Portuguese midfielder. Viera made 39 appearances for Porto last season, scoring 7 goals and assisting a further 16, with 14 assists in the Portuguese first division being the highest in the league. Viera has also made 21 appearances for the Portuguese U-21 side, scoring an impressive 14 goals. The technically gifted midfielder joins the ever-growing crop of young talent in this Arsenal side. His ability to play in multiple positions across the attack will be invaluable to Arteta's team as they push to improve on their 5th place finish from last season while also coping with European competition.

Armel Bella-Kotchap - VFL Bochum to Southampton (£9.5 million)

Southampton have announced another signing this week with German-Cameroonian center-back Armel Bella-Kotchap joining for a fee of 9.5 million pounds. The 6'2 20-year-old has, despite his young age, played regular first-team football for the past two years, playing a pivotal role in VFL Bochum's promotion two seasons ago and making 22 appearances for the club in the Bundesliga last year. Bella-Kotchap should be a robust option for the Saints in defence next season and potentially develop into a top-quality Premier League defender.

Nick Pope - Burnley to Newcastle (£10 million)

Newcastle have landed the signature of Premier League proven England International Nick Pope on a four-year deal from the recently relegated Burnley. The 30-year-old made 141 league appearances for Burnley after they signed him in 2016 and earned several England call-ups, including selection in the World Cup 2018 squad, but unfortunately missed Euro 2020 following surgery on a knee injury. Pope will be competing with Martin Dubravka for the #1 spot in the Newcastle side and will likely be hoping that a good run in the team will see him returned to the England squad for the Qatar World Cup.

Taiwo Awoniyi - Union Berlin to Nottingham Forest (£17.5 million)

Forest have completed a record signing of 24-year-old Nigerian Striker Taiwo Awoniyi from Union Berlin. The striker scored 20 goals in 43 appearances in all competitions for the German club, including 15 in the Bundesliga, the most of any Union Berlin player ever in the topflight. His goals helped spur the team to a historic 5th place finish that saw them qualify for European football for the first time since the 2001/2002 season. Awoniyi will provide an excellent replacement for the ageing Lewis Grabban and should provide a brilliant target for prolific winger Brennan Davies. This signing is undoubtedly a statement of intent from Forest, and it will be interesting to watch who they go after next.

Joe Rothwell - Blackburn to Bournemouth (Free)

Bournemouth completed their second summer signing with 27-year-old central midfielder Joe Rothwell joining from Blackburn on a free transfer. Rothwell has made his way up the divisions since leaving Manchester United in 2016, where he made no first-team appearances. Rothwell joined League One side Oxford United where he made 73 appearances, before joining Championship side Blackburn in 2018, where he made a further 151 appearances, and now has finally earned his chance to ply his trade in the Premier League. Last year he scored 3 goals and assisted a further 10 in a solid Championship season which saw Blackburn finish just outside the playoff spots in 8th. Rothwell should be a calm and experienced customer who will be eager to make his mark on the Premier League with Bournemouth.

Malcolm Ebiowei - Derby County to Crystal Palace (undisclosed)

Crystal Palace have made their first signing of the summer window in 18-year-old winger Malcolm Ebiowei from Derby County. The teenager cited the uncertain future of Derby County as one of the main reasons he looked to secure his future with a move to the Premier League. Palace have reportedly beat out interest from Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur to earn the young starlet's signature. Ebiowei made 16 appearances for Derby last season, scoring one goal and providing two assists. With all the right attributes and a sound support system, Palace fans will be hoping Ebiowei can develop into a Premier League talent for the future.

Matt Turner - New England Revolution to Arsenal (undisclosed)

Arsenal have announced the signing of 28-year-old USA national goalkeeper from MLS side New England Revolution for an undisclosed fee. Turner was named MLS goalkeeper of the year in 2021 and has made 18 appearances for the US men's national team. Turner will be hoping he can fight for a place in the Arsenal side. Still, with England international Aaron Ramsdale coming off a good season, it is unlikely Turner will play anything more than a backup role for the Gunners next season.
