Last week, I wrote that the final week of the Premier League transfer window would likely be hectic and expensive; that turned out to be an understatement. Premier League clubs smashed the previous record for most money spent in a single window, clocking in at £3.11billion, more than Europe's other top five leagues combined. 39 new players joined Premier League clubs in the last week. Here’s every one of them broken up by the team they signed for.
Arsenal
Piero Hincapie - Bayer Leverkusen, loan
It was just the one deal for Arsenal this week, signing Bayer Leverkusen central defender Piero Hincapie on loan with a £45m option to buy. His move comes after William Saliba picked up an injury last weekend. The 23-year-old Ecuadorian had a great season in Germany last year, making 32 Bundesliga appearances with two goals and two assists, ranking highly amongst defenders in all progressive passing and dribbling statistics.
Aston Villa
Victor Lindelof - unattached, free
Jadon Sancho - Man Utd, loan
Harvey Elliott - Liverpool, loan
After a terrible start to the season, with two losses and a draw, Aston Villa made three late signings, all free or on loan, to bolster the squad and remain within the confines of PSR.
Viktor Lindelof joins after the conclusion of his contract with Manchester United. He’ll provide support for Tyrone Mings, Pau Torres, and Ezri Konsa in central defense.
Jadon Sancho joined on loan from Manchester United. He had a decent season with Chelsea last year, scoring three goals and assisting four in 31 Premier League appearances, 11 of them off the bench. Villa have seriously lacked width in their opening fixtures, so he’ll provide that.
Finally, they signed Liverpool’s Harvey Elliot on loan. Ross Barkley, Boubacar Kamara, and Amadou Onana are out injured at the moment, so Elliott will provide an option and competition in a deeper-lying midfield role.
Bournemouth
Veljko Milosavljevic - Red Star Belgrade, £13m
Alex Jimenez - AC Milan, loan
After losing three of last year's back four, Bournemouth completed their third defensive signing of the summer in 18-year-old Serbian center-back Veljko Milosavljevic, who joined from Red Star Belgrade. He only made 27 appearances for Red Star, but their coaching staff rated him highly, and Bournemouth has a great record with developing young talent.
They also added 20-year-old Spanish left winger Alex Jiminez on loan from AC Milan. A versatile player, he appeared as a winger on both flanks and as a wing-back for Milan last year, making 29 first-team appearances in his first full season in top-flight football. It’s expected he’ll appear at right-back, where the Cherries have lacked pace.
Brentford
Reiss Nelson - Arsenal, loan
With Yoanne Wissa heading to Newcastle, Brentford added winger Reiss Nelson on loan from Arsenal. The 25-year-old left winger spent last season on loan with Fulham, making 12 appearances with two goals and an assist before injuring his hamstring. When he’s been fit, he’s looked a really useful winger, but keeping him fit will be the challenge.
Brighton
Kofi Shaw - Bristol Rovers, undisclosed
Just the one for Brighton, and it’s really to their academy. 18-year-old attacking midfielder Kofi Shaw joins from Bristol Rovers. He spent last season on loan with Yeovil Town, where he made 17 appearances, scoring two goals and assisting once in the National League.
Burnley
Fiorentino Luis - Benfica, loan
Burnley completed the signing of central midfielder Fiorentino Luis on loan from Benfica. A product of their academy, Luis made 43 appearances, scoring twice and adding an assist last season. He’ll provide competition for Liam Cullen and Lesley Ugochukwu in central midfield.
Chelsea
Alejandro Garnacho - Man Utd, £40m
Facundo Buonanotte - Brighton, loan
Two deadline day deals for Chelsea this year, the first and biggest being the acquisition of Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United. There’s been a lot of talk about this deal, and most of it negative, with pundits questioning Garnacho’s attitude after falling out with Ruben Amorim. But you can’t really question his ability. Since coming onto the scene for United, he’s made 144 appearances and produced at a pretty consistent level, scoring 11 goals and notching 10 assists in a season that was largely considered underwhelming last year. It’s a very different environment at Chelsea, less pressure and a young dressing room, and one that could suit him well.
They also signed Brighton’s Facundo Buonanotte on loan. The attacking midfielder spent last year on loan with Leicester, scoring six and adding three assists in 36 appearances. A promising young player, he’ll provide another useful option in attack.
Crystal Palace
Yéremy Pino - Villarreal, £26m
Jaydee Canvot - Toulouse, undisclosed
Christantus Uche - Getafe, £17.3m
The big win for Crystal Palace this week was holding on to their captain, Marc Guehi, but they also added three new players, finally bringing in some of the new blood manager Oliver Glasner craved.
The first and most important was the addition of Yéremy Pino. The 22-year-old Spanish left winger joins from Villarreal and should step into the space vacated by the departing Eberechi Eze. Last year, Pino had his best season for Villareal, scoring four goals and adding nine assists.
They also added striker Christantus Uche from Getafe. The 22-year-old Nigerian has also been deployed as an attacking midfielder and winger. He scored four goals and added six assists in 38 appearances last season, and already notched a goal and an assist in his three La Liga matches this year.
Finally, they signed 19-year-old center back Jaydee Canvot from Toulouse. Very much one for the future, the Frenchman made 20 appearances for Toulouse last year, but has shown promise, especially in the two games he’s played so far this season.
Everton
Merlin Rohl - Freiburg, loan
Everton completed the loan with an option to buy of 23-year-old German midfielder Merlin Rohl. Rohl burst onto the scene back in 2023, but faded a bit last year. A versatile midfielder, he also captained the Germany U-21s at the European Championships over the summer. He'll step in most likely as an option off the bench for Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall or James Garner.
Fulham
Kevin - Shakhtar, £34.6m
Samuel Chukwueze - AC Milan, loan
Johan Kusi-Asare - Bayern Munich, loan
Another manager who spent a large portion of the summer complaining over his club's lack of signings, Marco Silva got his way this week with three incomings after only signing a back-up goalkeeper so far this summer.
The only permanent addition is Brazilian winger Kevin from Shakhtar Donetsk. The 22-year-old left-winger scored nine goals and added three assists in 35 appearances last season, and has already scored five goals with two assists in five European qualification matches this season. A quick and flashy player, he’ll be exciting to watch in the Premier League.
Samuel Chukwueze also joined from AC Milan on loan. The 26-year-old Nigerian winger’s been around for a while, formerly of Villareal, where he burst on the scene way back in 2018 as a teenager. Last year, he scored five goals with three assists in 32 appearances. The squad lacked depth on the right side, so he’ll be a welcome addition.
They also added Johan Kusi-Asare on loan from Bayern Munich. The 18-year Swedish forward is pretty unknown, having made just two first-team appearances for Bayern.
Leeds United
N/A
Nothing to report for Leeds this week. But after a good amount of business over the summer, and a solid start to life back in the Premier League with four points from three, supporters will be feeling confident that this squad has enough to give them a chance at staying in the top flight.
Liverpool
Alexander Isak - Newcastle, £125m
There’s not much more to be said about the Premier League’s most expensive ever signing. The squad that won the league last year, and already added hundreds of millions of pounds worth of attacking talent, went out and got one of the most talented strikers in World football. 62 goals in 109 appearances for Newcastle, and still just 25 years old, the only question is what it means for their other new striker, Hugo Ekitike, who had a brilliant first few games for Liverpool.
Manchester City
Gianluigi Donnarumma - PSG, £26m
Despite buying a new goalkeeper already, one of Manchester City’s most glaring issues in their first few matches of the season was goalkeeping errors. So, unfortunately for new goalkeeper James Trafford, they went and got another new goalkeeper. Where James Trafford won the Championship, Gianluigi Donnarumma won the Champions League, so they’ll expect his experience to snuff out any issues at that position.
Manchester United
Senne Lammens - Royal Antwerp, £18.2m
The other Manchester club with goalkeeping issues went a very different route in solving them, partly because they were beaten by their rivals for the signature of Donnarumma. Ruben Amorim's side added Royal Antwerp goalkeeper Senne Lammens to their list of goalkeeping options. He made 41 appearances in the Belgian first division last year, keeping nine clean sheets. One would think that to improve on inexperienced young keepers, one should stop signing inexperienced young keepers, but apparently not.
Newcastle United
Nick Woltemade - Stuttgart, £69m
Yoane Wissa - Brentford, £55m
After losing Isak and scoring just two goals in their first three Premier League matches, Newcastle added two goalscoring attacking options to their ranks this week.
The first and most well-known to Premier League fans is Brentford forward Yoanne Wissa, who was holding out at Brentford to force a move to Newcastle, while Newcastle complained about Alexander Isak holding out to force a move to Liverpool.
Irony aside, Wissa is a very good player, capable of operating anywhere in a forward line. He scored 19 goals in 35 Premier League appearances, brilliant numbers for a player who isn’t an out-and-out striker. He’ll be a great option for Newcastle, and should link up well with their other new signing…
Nick Woltemade, who joined from Stuttgart in the Bundesliga for £69m. The 6′6 23-year-old German scored 17 goals in 33 Bundesliga appearances last year, and scored six goals in five appearances for the Germany U-21s at the European Championships. Despite being so big, he isn’t a traditional target man and prefers to use his feet and link up with other players in tight areas. He’s got big shoes to fill, but is undoubtedly a talent.
Nottingham Forest
Nicolo Savona - Juventus, £11.25m
John - Botafogo, undisclosed
Cuiabano - Botafogo, undisclosed
Dilane Bakwa - Strasbourg, £34.7m
Oleksandr Zinchenko - Arsenal, loan
A long list for Nottingham Forest this week, starting with 22-year-old Italian right back Nicolo Savono, who joined from Juventus and will compete with Ole Aina for the position.
They also added two players from the Brazilian side Botafogo: left-back Cuibano and goalkeeper John Victor. John will provide competition for Matz Selz, and Cuibano for Neco Williams.
They signed Oleksandr Zinchenko on loan from Arsenal, which is interesting as he can play either at left back or in midfield. Ibrahim Sangare is probably the most likely to lose out on his position, so Zinchenko can step in to play central midfield.
Lastly, they splashed £34.7m on Dilane Bakwa, a 23-year-old French right-winger from Strasbourg. He’s a really exciting player, 12 goals and 19 assists in 71 appearances for Strasbourg. He could provide a dynamic threat on the wings for Forest, and is probably closer to an Anthony Elanga replacement than Dan Ndoye.
Sunderland
Nordi Mukiele - Paris Saint-Germain, £12m
Lutsharel Geertruida - RB Leipzig, loan
Brian Brobbey - Ajax, £21.3m
Bertrand Traore - Ajax, £2.5m
After an already incredibly busy summer, Sunderland brought in four more this week, taking their summer spending to £161.7m.
The biggest name of this week's signings is striker Brian Brobbey from Ajax. Still only 23 years old, Brobbey was once considered to be Europe’s next big thing. His stock isn’t quite as high as it used to be; he only scored seven times in 44 appearances for Ajax last year, though he did add six assists. For Sunderland, though, it’s an exciting singing, and at a relatively cheap price.
They also signed center back Nordi Mukiele from Paris Saint-Germain, who actually featured over the weekend after Dan Ballard picked up an injury and had a great game.
Former Aston Villa winger Bertrand Traore joined for the nominal fee of £2.5m he had one great season for Villa in 2020/21, but never really hit those heights again. However, he had the best season of his career last year at 29 years old, with ten goals and nine assists for Ajax. He’ll bring some attacking quality and Premier League experience to a side that’s now got lots of exciting options going forward.
Finally, they signed Lutsharel Geertruida on loan from RB Leipzig. The 25-year-old made 25 appearances last season and will provide them with another option in central defense.
Tottenham
Xavi Simons - RB Leipzig, £51m
Randal Kolo Muani - Paris Saint-Germain, loan
With so many big deals occurring this summer, Tottenham's acquisition of Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig flew under the radar, but he’s another huge name coming to England for a relatively big fee. The 22-year-old played 78 times in two seasons in Germany, scoring 22 goals and adding 23 assists. He often played on the left side of a midfield three in a 4-3-3, so he should slot in there for Spurs as well, though Thomas Frank likes to change up his formations.
They also signed 26-year-old French forward Randal Kolo Muani on loan from PSG. The striker spent last year on loan with Juventus, scoring ten goals in 22 appearances, but can also play on the right wing.
West Ham
Mateus Fernandes - Southampton, £42m
Soungoutou Magassa - Monaco, £17.3m
Igor Julio - Brighton, loan
After a tough start to the season for West Ham and Graham Potter, they got their first big win last weekend against Nottingham Forest. New signing Mateus Fernades slotted right into the side on the left side of their front four, and had a great first game. The 21-year-old attacking midfielder joined from Southampton, where he made 36 Premier League appearances last year, scoring three goals with six assists.
They also added defensive midfield reinforcement in 21-year-old Frenchman Soungoutou Magassa, who joined from Monaco, and signed center back Igor Julio on loan from Brighton.
Wolves
Ladislav Krejci - Girona, loan
Tolu Arokodare - Genk, £23.4m
It wasn’t a huge summer for Wolves; they gave up more than they got, and now sit bottom of the Premier League table with three defeats in three games. However, they did keep hold of Jorgen Strand Larsen despite interest from Newcastle, and brought in new striker Tolu Arokodare from Genk.
Arokodare scored 21 goals with five assists in 40 Belgian league appearances last year. The 24-year-old Nigerian could take time to adapt to the pace of the Premier League, but is an exciting new option up front for Wolves.
They also added Lutsharel Geertruida at center back on loan from Girona. The 26-year-old played 28 times in La Liga last year after joining from Sparta Prague. He’s another defensive option as their back three have struggled to start the year.
Thanks for reading the final addition of this year's Premier League Done Deals. We hope you enjoyed following along! Stay tuned for more coverage as the season goes on.
