Whether you’re abstaining from football for the next few weeks to preserve other relationships or attempting to enjoy the FIFA Club World Cup, it’s next season we’re all looking forward to. With the 2025/26 Premier League fixture list announced earlier today, we’re one step closer to the curtains opening on a new season. As Premier League clubs strengthen their squads in anticipation, we break down every confirmed transfer from the last week.
Mathys Tel - Bayern Munich to Tottenham Hotspur, £31m

Tottenham confirmed the signing of forward Mathys Tel, who spent the latter half of last season on loan with Spurs from Bayern Munich. The initial loan deal had a £55m buy option included, but the London club managed to negotiate the deal for the 20-year-old Frenchman down to £35m, with £10m in potential future bonuses, according to The Athletic.
Tel made 20 appearances for Spurs, scoring three goals and assisting once, not astounding numbers, but the season before, he scored ten and assisted six in a full season with Bayern Munich. He’s a fast, technical player who can shoot with both feet. For Bayern Munich, he sometimes played through the middle or occasionally on the right.
Tel is the type of player who could flourish under new manager Thomas Frank, the Dane has a good record of developing young attacking talent. Tel is of a similar profile to a player like Kevin Schade, another left winger who joined Brentford from Bundesliga club Freiburg in 2023. Schade only scored twice in his first two seasons with Brentford, but enjoyed a breakout season under Thomas Frank last year, scoring 12 and assisting three. Spurs will be hoping Frank can get Tel contributing at similar rates.
Charalampos Kostoulas - Olympiacos to Brighton, £31.7m

Brighton completed the signing of 18-year-old Greek forward Charalampos Kostoulas for the second-highest fee in club history, at £31.7m. While the price is high, Brighton has one of the best track records of recruitment in the league. In 2023, the club broke the Premier League record for the largest ever recorded profit in a single year after making £227.1m on the sales of Yves Bissouma, Marc Cucurella, Leandro Trossard, Alexis Mac Allister, and Moises Caicedo. All players who’ve been successful since leaving the south coast.
The son of former Olympiakos defender Athanasios Kostoulas, Charalampos could be another Brighton success story. The forward first appeared on the scene in 2023/24, helping Olympiakos win the UEFA Youth Cup. His five goals and two assists earned him a promotion to the first team, where he scored seven goals in 22 matches last season as the club won both the league title and the domestic cup.
Kostoulas can play both as a traditional number nine and as a second striker. At just over six feet tall, he is both quick and physically strong, with the ability to dribble at defenders and finish with his feet and in the air. It will be exciting to watch how he develops in the Premier League next season.
Adrien Truffert - Rennes to Bournemouth, £14.3m

Bournemouth announced the signing of French left-back Adrien Truffert for £14.3m from French side Rennes. The deal opens up the door for Bournemouth’s star left-back of last season, Milos Kerkez, to join Liverpool, wrote Sky Sports.
Despite being only 23, Truffert is an experienced top-flight full-back. He played his first full Ligue 1 season back in 2020/21 and has since made 191 appearances for Rennes, scoring nine goals, and earning the captain's armband last year.
Truffert will have big shoes to fill if Kerkez does indeed leave Bournemouth. Especially considering Kerkez would be the second of last year's back line to depart after Dean Huijsen joined Real Madrid earlier this month. However, Truffert’s experience and youth, combined with his low price, make this look like a smart move from Bournemouth.
Diego Coppola - Hellas Verona to Brighton, £9m

Brighton also confirmed the signing of 21-year-old Italian center-back Diego Coppola from Serie A side Hellas Verona. Coppola made 25 appearances for Verona last year in Serie A, scoring twice, and earned his first cap for Italy back in May. The 6’4 defender ranked first in the league for interceptions per 90, third for clearances per 90, and third for aerial clearances.
Coppola becomes the youngest defender on Brighton's books, and has the potential to become a regular, though he likely won’t start right away.
Lukas Nmecha - Wolfsburg to Leeds, free

26-year-old striker Lukas Nmecha joined Leeds on a free transfer this week. The German’s contract ran out after four years with Bundesliga side Wolfsburg. Nmecha’s goalscoring record is okay at best. In 73 appearances for Wolfsburg, he scored 19 times, but ten of those came in his first season at the club. Since then, his season totals were four, two, and then three last year.
It’s a low-risk move for Daniel Farke and Leeds; he’s got top-flight experience, joins for free on a two-year deal, and will provide competition for Leeds' top scorer from last year, Joel Piroe. That is, if he can stay fit, in the last three seasons Nmecha’s missed 64 games due to injury, not ideal.
Lloyd Kelly - Newcastle to Juventus, £20m

Lloyd Kelly left Newcastle to join Juventus on a permanent deal. The 26-year-old defender spent the second half of last year on loan with Juventus, making 15 appearances. It’s good business for Newcastle, who signed him on a free from Bournemouth just last year.
